Recently Microsoft releases its new Operating system Windows 7. During the previous press interview when the reporter asked about the google trying to build their own operating system, the management consider it as light and they think they cant compete with their strength in the market. Its no wonder they are very confident in their market strength that google cant take over it. But there is a silent competitor which occupies the market. The name is UBUNTU linux based operating system. Many big companies, Government offices are using this OS, as this is a open source OS. Previously there are many software is not compatible with Ubuntu but the latest version 9.10 clarifies all. Even it comes with firefox browser and many manufacturer are offering ubuntu as another OS. Also hacking is not possible in this as windows which makes it reliable to government offices.

After the independence India is developed in many fields. They are the leader in many technologies. To add another feather to this, ISRO Indian space research Organization has launched “Bhuvan”. It’s a geoportal which showcasing Indian Imaging Capability in Multi-sensor, Multi-platform and Multi-temporal domain. Using this Bhuvan you can access, explore and visualize 2D and 3D image data along with rich thematic information on land and water resourse with specific emphasis on Indian region. There are already two operators who give the visualization of earth, Google earth and wikimapia. What seems Bhuvan to differ from them is, Google Earth shows detail upto 200 m distance and wikimapia upto 50 m, whereas bhuvan will show images upto 10 m. This means you can easily see details upto 3 store building. Moreover it gives weather information and even administration boundaries of all states and districts in India . And the images are upgraded every year whereas Google Earth upgrades 4 year once. Now the clear images can be seen for India region soon it covers the entire earth. This project demonstrates Our Country’s expertise in both information and space technology.

The large hadron collider is the world’s largest and highest –energy particle accelerator. This is shortly called as LHC. LHC was built by European Organization for Nuclear Research also known as CERN. The main purpose of creating this collider is to testing various predictions of high energy physics. This LHC is located in Geneva, Switzerland. LHC is not situated in open land it’s in a tunnel of 27 KM in circumference and 175 meters beneath the France Swiss border. This Giant machine started its process on 10 of September 2008 by passing the proton beam in a main ring. But the operation lasted only for 9 days. On 19^th September of the same year the operation was halted due to the problems in superconducting magnets. Its funded and built in collaboration with over 10,000 engineers and scientists from 100 countries and above. Also many Universities and laboratories took part in this experiment. The cost for the project is expected to be 3million Euros for accelerator. The CERN contribution towards the experiment was 700 million Euros. But the cost keeps on increasing due to technical faults. If the machine goes well as predicted we get the answers for many unknown questions that scientists are searching for years.
