Atlantis Last tour of this Year

US Space Shuttle Atlantis is scheduled to blast off to international space station from Florida. This is the last the last shuttle mission for 2009. Already Atlantis reached 4 times to the International Space Station. This mission purpose is to deliver the space parts to the International Space Station. And dedicated to store of replacement parts on the space station. It contain the spare parts like pump modules, gas tanks, control for space station robotic arm. Lift off is planned for 1428 EST on Monday from the Kennedy space centre near cape Canaveral. In this mission six astronauts is take off with Atlantis captained by Charlie Hobaugh, a colonel in the US marines. This is a 11 day space outing mission. The crew will return to earth along with seventh crew member Nicole Stott who’s been living in the space station for three months.

Sea Monster

Along the UK’s Jurassic coast the fossilized skull of the colossal “ Sea Monster ” has been unearthed. The name of the monster is Pliosaur which terrorized the oceans 150 million years ago. If you hear the size of the monster u lower jaw automatically lowered. The skull is 2.4m long and measured unto 16m in length. Pliosaurs were the form of plesiosaur which dominates the seas around the same time dinosaurs ruled the land. They have strong necks, powerful jaws with full of razor teeth. This recent finding may be a rival to predator X measured 15ft in Mexico and monster of aramberri.

Magnetricity

"Magnetricity” – Is this word new to you? It should be. You know the flow of electron makes the current. If the magnet produce the current means? So here is the name they given to the latest and hottest discovery. Magnetic Electricity. Researchers have discovered this single magnetic charges that behave and interact like electrons. This was only discovered in spin ice crystal, which make use of the magnetic monopoles. Magnetic monopole were first predicted a century ago. There are proton and electrons exists in monopole but there is no particle which carry the charge. It is found only in the Spin ice crystal. This discovery leads this material may be used in future in magnetic memory storage device.

Glowing Bomber Worm- New Discovery

Scientist has discovered glowing bomber worms. These worms are found dwelling in the deep ocean. To ward off predators these worms release body parts as tiny bombs. In a science journal, Researchers describes the bizarre “swima worms”. A team found this just above the sea bed off the west coast of the US while exploring the water. This species is transparent and they produce colorful bioluminescence. They named this glowing worm Swima bombiviridis. They usually have eight bombs. They will drop it one or two at a time. Studies confirm that their gills can fall of very easily like detachable. Some reason these gills transformed into little glowing detachable spheres.

'Lost land of the weird'- BBC's recent expedition

In a recent BBC expedition they had discovered a weird and wonderful animal in world’s most remote rainforest. The team went there to explore the crater of a pristine giant extinct volcano located in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. During their venture the team filmed strange spider, giant caterpillar and tree living Kangaroos. The team consists of two cameraman, two sound recordists, two directors and support staffs. Also medic specialized in remote area and an expert in ropes and climbing trees. During this expedition the team found no of new creature. The team is not sure until scientists have had chance to formally evaluate and describe the animal found, but they suspect they may have discovered up to 40 new species. This list includes 16 new species of frog, 1 species of gecko, three new species of fish, 20 species of insects and spider and 1 from bat. They also found a Doria’s tree kangaroo.

Swine Flu - Precautions

Swine flu, the word which dominates today’s world. Few weeks back the word Recession took control of this world. But this Swine flu took over that. Till now there is no medicine for the flu that makes the H1N1 virus dangerous. You can protect yourself by doing these things

Use tissue paper to cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
After you cough or sneeze washes your hands often with soap and water. An alcohol-based hand cleaner is recommended.
Germs spread through eyes, nose or mouth so avoid touching this areas.
Trying to avoid close contact with sick people.
Staying home from work or school if you are sick.

Some anti-viral tablets are used to control the flu. As of now Oseltamivir (tamiflu) and Zanamivir (Relenza) is used for the person who is identified as H1N1 positive. As this virus is influenza A its will spread from one person to another person. So Precaution is better cure in this condition.

Mind Mapping - Part 3

One variation of the technique is to put sub concepts as a network of bubbles connected with lines. The keywords are placed inside the bubbles rather than on the lines.
You can enhance the visual power of your mind maps by putting images near some of the concepts. You can also benefit from using colors for better grouping of the related sub concepts.
In contrast to a linear list of text, a graphic concept map clearly represents relative importance of different sub concepts (by how far they are from the center) as well as how much they are related to each other (by their proximity on paper). Mind map is also easier to extend than a continuous text. When you need to add a new concept, just find some space to branch out a new line.
While such visual exercise can be done on paper, there are also a few graphic mind mapping software tools that could streamline the process. Mind mapping software programs greatly simplify visual map creation as well as management, especially when you need to modify, store, and organize your mind maps on a regular basis.

Mind Mapping- Part 2

To create a concept map you can proceed in the following way. Take a sheet of paper and put in the middle the central concept of your topic of focus. For example, in the case of goal setting it can be the overall direction of your goals. Ideally, represent that concept as a combination of words and an image. Then, starting from that central concept, draw lines to the sides to represent the main related sub categories for your mind map topic. Take one main keyword that you associate with each sub topic and print it in capitals over one of those lines. When you are done with those sub categories, continue the process of branching out lower level sub concepts. Draw lines from the end of each line from the previous stage and, as before, mark those lines with the main keywords that distinguish those concepts.

Mind Mapping – What is it?
Mind mapping is a powerful technique for thinking on paper. It can help you greatly in such tasks as
  • goal setting (goal mind mapping)
  • project planning
  • organizing information for decision making
  • studying new subjects or preparing for an exam
  • preparing an oral presentation or writing an article or report
  • note taking
  • brainstorming
and many other “think on paper” types of situations.
The rationale for the use of mind maps or concept maps comes from a deeper understanding of how the brain works with information. Unlike a traditional computer, your brain does not process or organize information in linear sequences. Instead it naturally operates with networks of associations between various ideas. If you present information as a visual network, rather than a linear list, you will greatly enhance you mind powers to digest that information. You will also stimulate synergy of the left and right sides of your brain.

"BHUVAN"

After the independence India is developed in many fields. They are the leader in many technologies. To add another feather to this, ISRO Indian space research Organization has launched “Bhuvan”. It’s a geoportal which showcasing Indian Imaging Capability in Multi-sensor, Multi-platform and Multi-temporal domain. Using this Bhuvan you can access, explore and visualize 2D and 3D image data along with rich thematic information on land and water resourse with specific emphasis on Indian region. There are already two operators who give the visualization of earth, Google earth and wikimapia. What seems Bhuvan to differ from them is, Google Earth shows detail upto 200 m distance and wikimapia upto 50 m, whereas bhuvan will show images upto 10 m. This means you can easily see details upto 3 store building. Moreover it gives weather information and even administration boundaries of all states and districts in India . And the images are upgraded every year whereas Google Earth upgrades 4 year once. Now the clear images can be seen for India region soon it covers the entire earth. This project demonstrates Our Country’s expertise in both information and space technology.

Large Hadron Collider

The large hadron collider is the world’s largest and highest –energy particle accelerator. This is shortly called as LHC. LHC was built by European Organization for Nuclear Research also known as CERN. The main purpose of creating this collider is to testing various predictions of high energy physics. This LHC is located in Geneva, Switzerland. LHC is not situated in open land it’s in a tunnel of 27 KM in circumference and 175 meters beneath the France Swiss border. This Giant machine started its process on 10 of September 2008 by passing the proton beam in a main ring. But the operation lasted only for 9 days. On 19th September of the same year the operation was halted due to the problems in superconducting magnets. Its funded and built in collaboration with over 10,000 engineers and scientists from 100 countries and above. Also many Universities and laboratories took part in this experiment. The cost for the project is expected to be 3million Euros for accelerator. The CERN contribution towards the experiment was 700 million Euros. But the cost keeps on increasing due to technical faults. If the machine goes well as predicted we get the answers for many unknown questions that scientists are searching for years.
